Maranguka Justice Reinvestment Project
Maranguka is an Indigenous-led, place-based, data-driven approach to improve outcomes for children, young people and families. Maranguka has a long history of development which culminated in a collective impact change approach commencing in 2013. The urgency for change was reducing offending and increasing community safety.
To learn more about their work, we have co-created a case study with the Maranguka team and Bourke community. These short films share their change journey so far, lessons learnt and hopes for the future. These stories have been organised to reflect the five phases of the Collaborative Change Cycle.
In 2013, Maranguka partnered with Just Reinvest NSW to develop a Justice Reinvestment ‘proof of concept’ in Bourke. Justice Reinvestment seeks to shift government spending away from prisons and into communities reducing offending.
