3. Creating a Shared Vision
caroline.holmes@health.nsw.gov.au
With many children at risk of significant harm and entering the Out of Home Care system, FACS needed to do something radically different to help families keep children safe at home. The financial cost of children entering Out of Home Care is substantial, as well as the social costs of separating children from their parents (and at times other siblings) which can leads to life-long disadvantage.
The MaSH program aims to address these problems by supporting families through investing financial, practical and intensive casework supports in high risk families to prevent the need for children to enter care and build sustained positive change in family functioning leading to better life outcomes.
