4. Scaling Up

Lighthouse is using an army of volunteers, local and population level data, community collaborations, innovation and systems thinking to support catalytic change for our community. Our vision is to improve the life outcomes for children and young people in Greater Shepparton, from conception to career.
We start by listening deeply, carefully unpacking the issues impacting on and identified by young people and their families to co-design unique local solutions. Lighthouse taps into and aligns resources within our community and beyond to address issues such as social isolation, disadvantage and poor school engagement with a focus on the most pressing need, such as food and safe spaces. We also advocate and lobby for policy change, and partner, coordinate and deliver initiatives.
We are a backbone organisation supported by collaborative leadership tables of 48 community members and thought leaders that drive the change. Using a collective impact model we have mobilised hundreds of volunteers and created a movement tackling both immediate need as well as using a preventative lens to foster long term solutions. We have business and community leaders with the skills, will and social capital leading the work.
Lighthouse acknowledges the traditional custodians of Greater Shepparton and pay our respects to our elders past, present and emerging.
